Cultural Design

The artwork draws on Mesopotamian heritage and the land between the rivers: the date palm, whose cultivation Iraq shares on UNESCO's heritage list; the reed mudhif guesthouses, mashoof canoes, water buffalo and herons of the Mesopotamian Marshes; the lapis-blue glazed-brick rosettes of ancient Babylon; and the oud of the Iraqi maqam. The palette uses the simple national red, white, black and green, illustrated with fine linework, shading and gold accents.
